First Gen restores quake-hit Batangas facility

MANILA – First Gen Corp said Wednesday it restored one of two facilities that connect its natural gas plants to the national grid, less than two weeks after the Batangas earthquake.

Unit 60 of the San Lorenzo Switchyard was “resynchronized to the grid and has resumed operations” while Unit 50 will be restored “in the coming days,” First Gen told the stock exchange.

The San Lorenzo Switchyard connects First Gen’s San Lorenzo, San Gabriel and Avion natural gas plants to the National Grid Corp.

The 1,000 MW Santa Rita power plant, which tripped during the earthquake, has resumed operations after it was assessed that it did not suffer significant damage, the company said.

First Gen shares were down 0.46 percent to P21.50 in early trading on Wednesday.
