MANILA, Philippines – The operator of Cebu Pacific is seeking flight entitlements from Manila to Hong Kong.
The entitlements being requested are under a memorandum of understanding entered into by the Philippines and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2014.
At present, Cebu Pacific has flights to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations including Hong Kong.
It recently took delivery of two brand-new aircraft: an Airbus A330; and an ATR 72-600, to bring its current fleet to 61.
The group’s fleet is comprised of four Airbus A319s, 36 Airbus A320s, eight Airbus A330s, eight ATR 72-500s and five ATR 72-600 aircraft.
As of end-April this year, the group served 6.63 million passengers, slightly higher than the 6.61 million passengers in the previous year.
For the month of April alone, the group carried 1.82 million passengers this year, up three percent from the 1.77 million in the same month last year.
The group is aiming to fly 20 million passengers this year.
Earlier, Paterno Mantaring, vice president for corporate affairs, said the group intends to continue to expand the domestic route network and look at opportunities to grow the international market to meet this year’s passenger volume target.
