Capas-Botolan connector road opens in November

MANILA, Philippines – Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the Capas-Botolan connector road, which is a 48.63 kilometer project, is set to be completed by November this year.

“Currently, there is no direct link between Tarlac and Zambales. The travel time between the provinces is approximately three hours, but upon completion of the project, travel time would be reduced by one hour and 20 minutes,” Villar said.

“Before the implementation of this project, motorists either have to pass by the province of Pangasinan or provinces of Bataan and Pampanga since rugged and mountainous terrain separates the two provinces,” he said.

The construction of the Capas-Botolan road is expected to generate more tourists from Zambales to Capas since tourist spots in the different provinces would become accessible from Botolan to Capas and vice versa.

“We aim to finish this project by November. This project is expected to compliment the existing 81.63 kilometers of road,” Villar said.

The P138,413,298.40 project is ongoing and is 69.95 percent completed.

“24/7 work schedule will be implemented in key regional projects so as to accomplish projects on time,” he said.
