Philippine Daily Inquirer 05:05 AM October 03, 2017 http://business.inquirer.net/ The Duterte administration plans to rehabilitate the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, as passenger congestion worsens.
Ed Montreal, Manila International Airport Authority general manager, said in a recent interview that the project to improve passenger facilities would cost close to P500 million .
“It’s in the process of detailed engineering,” Montreal said. He said the project would be bid out, although the final timing needed to be finalized. Naia Terminal 2 has been used exclusively by Philippine Airlines since 1999. PAL recently revived an offer to build a P20-billion Naia Terminal 2 “annex building.” This would address capacity constraints in Naia, which is handling about 40 percent more passengers than its design capacity. That offer had stalled as PAL became embroiled in a dispute with gaming regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. over its lease rate, which was signed under the previous administration and deemed by Pagcor’s current leadership as too low. |
