Hong Kong startup raises $30-M, eyes PH expansion

MANILA – A Hong Kong-based startup company said Tuesday it is looking to expand to the Philippines as part of it plans to establish a dominant presence in on-demand deliveries.

The company, Lalamove, said it raised $30 million in a fresh round of financing led by Xianghe Capital.

“Manila is the latest expansion of Lalamove in Southeast Asia. This funding will definitely help fuel the aggressive expansion plans we have for the Philippines,” said Albert Go, country director at Lalamove Philippines.

The company, which currently operates in 45 cities across China and Southeast Asia, said it plans to launch in an additional 60 Asian cities by the end of 2017.

Lalamove is a delivery platform that aims to improve local delivery through mobile internet.
