MANILA – SM Prime Holdings Inc. said Thursday it will open its biggest mall in China next month.

SM Tianjin, which offers more than 540,000 square meters of gross leasable area, will have a soft opening on December 17, SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim said.

The mall, SM’s seventh in China, is expected to be 60 percent leased out to various tenants by December, Lim added.

SM has existing malls in Xiamen, Jinjiang, Chengdu, Suzhou, Chongqing and Zibo.

The company earlier said it is open to acquiring existing malls within Fujian province in China to boost expansion.
