MANILA, Philippines — West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. is allocating P10 billion in the next five years to improve its sewerage system services.

Maynilad said the amount would be utilized to install 184 kilometers of sewer lines to expedite the provision of sewerage services to its customers.

The new sewer lines will be laid in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa and in Kawit, Cavite.

The installation of the sewer lines will begin in the second half of next year and is targeted for completion by 2022.

“The installation of the new conveyance systems is part of our commitment to expand sewerage services to the entire West concession area,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said.

The new sewer lines will enable Maynilad to catch wastewater generated by about two million customers in the area and convey it to sewage treatment plants (STP).

Once operational, the improved wastewater infrastructure will allow Maynilad to convey wastewater to STP in the area with a combined treatment capacity of 320 million liters of wastewater per day.

Maynilad has so far built 18 wastewater treatment facilities since its re-privatization in 2007, enabling it to treat some 502 million liters of wastewater as of September 2017.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the country in terms of customer base. It serves the areas of Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, Malabon, and certain portions of Manila, Quezon City, Makati and Cavite.

Maynilad is owned and managed by Maynilad Water Holdings Co. Inc. a joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corp., DMCI Holdings Inc. and Marubeni Corp.
